International Day Of The Midwife 2019

On 5 May each year, we celebrate International Day of the Midwife. This day marks a global recognition and celebration of the work of midwives, led by the International Consortium of Midwives.

We would like to raise awareness about the status of midwives in the Maternity Directorate, including Cork University Maternity Hospital and the maternity units in South Tipperary General Hospital, University Hospital Kerry and University Hospital Waterford and the essential care they provide to mothers and their newborns in the South.

Help us to celebrate the achievements of our midwives and their important contribution to improving maternal and newborn outcomes!

For those of you on Twitter, please share your message of support and Tweet on 5 May including #IDM2019 #Midwives.  Alternatively, retweet the tweets sent by @HRSSWHG on 5 May.
