Chaplaincy & Pastoral Care

Chaplaincy & Pastoral Care

Our Chaplaincy Team provides a 24-hour pastoral service that is available to all at CUMH.

We Are Here For You

We are available to share in your joy as you celebrate the birth of your baby. In addition to sharing in your joy of expectation sometimes pregnancy can be a time of uncertainty and so the chaplains are here to support you with our team colleagues. We are also here to support you and your loved ones and to journey with you if your baby is ill or is in the neonatal unit. There is a multi-denominational Prayer Room on the ground floor that is always open as a place of quiet, prayer and reflection.

We offer pastoral/spiritual support, companionship, prayer and also sacramental services. We can also be a link between you and your own spiritual/ philosophical adviser.

There are religious services broadcast from the Chapel of Christ our Saviour (Roman Catholic) and the Chapel of Christ the Healer (Church of Ireland) in CUH on hospital radio CUH 102fM.

 Spiritual and Pastoral Support

The multi-denominational chaplaincy team work as part of the Pregnancy Loss Team at CUMH. We recognise that the loss of a pregnancy or the death of a baby raises many questions and can challenge your faith/ belief regardless of your belief system. As chaplains, specialising in perinatal bereavement support, we are here to support you and your family during this difficult time. We can provide or arrange spiritual/religious services/ ceremonies for you following your wishes. We are also here for you if you wish to explore any questions that might arise for you during pregnancy or after you have gone home.

The hospital also arranges an annual Service of Remembrance each year for all who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss.

We are available to meet with you during your pregnancy, during your time in hospital or afterwards.

 How Can You Contact Us?

We can be contacted through the hospital switchboard, reception, or ward staff. If you wish to see us on an outpatient basis please telephone us through the switchboard to arrange an appointment.

Further details about our pregnancy loss and bereavement support can be found on the pregnancy loss page.
